93.8% electrical in April

93.8% electrical in April

April was better than my target of 90%. Nothing special this month; the usual commuting and short trips.1686 km using 15.2 liter of gas is better than 1:100 and the total costs including charging is €0.068 per kilometer, which you can compare with 1:24 for a petrol car.CO2 emission was 21.9 g/km, about half of the formal value of 42 g/km given by Mitsubishi.

Higher temperature, more range ?

Higher temperature, more range ?

I was curious if the range would be larger with the higher temperatures of the past days. Outside temperature was 24°C and I made a slightly longer highway trip back from the office. 35 km in total and I had 9 km left at home according the boardcomputer. At the start there was 34.3Ah in the battery and 14.5 left. Total consumption 6.1 kWh and on average 17.3 kWh/100km (including regeneration). No airco and off course a 100% electrical trip. Comparing…

87.6% electrical in March

87.6% electrical in March

A lower score in March unfortunately. No big surprise due to a few longer trips. 235 km for a weekend on the Dutch island Terschelling without charging and 150km to Utrecht where i could charge in Utrecht.Close to my target of 90%.1700 km on 35 liter of gas is almost 1:50 and the total costs of gas and electricity are about €0.075 per kilometer.CO2 was 48.3 g/km, slightly higher than the announced 42g, but way lower than the average petrol…

Highway vs secondary road consumption

Highway vs secondary road consumption

I did a small test this week. Reading other experiences, the range when driving on the highway would be less than on secondary roads and city. In the morning i did my usual route to Schiphol via the highway A9 and A5. 27.7 km, 55.6 km/u average and 108km/u max. Battery from 33.2 to 15.0 Ah, so a consumption of 18.5 Ah.Ater work the secondary road via Hoofddorp, Heemstede and Haarlem. 27.2 km, 45.2 km/u average and 88 km/u max….

97.6% electrical in February !

97.6% electrical in February !

This is better than expected. I logged all trips in February in the PHEVWatchDog and drove 1240 km electrical out of 1267 km.1267 km with only 3.2 liter of gasoline, that’s 1:350 ! A nice showcase that the PHEV enables you to drive almost fully electrical with a usage profile with relatively short distance trips and charge faithfully. 5.8 g/km CO2 emission. The total costs for gas and electricity where €80, so €0.063 per kilometer. Comparable to 1:24 on gas….

Battery condition – 2

Battery condition – 2

Today I got the 5th message about the decreasing battery condition in PHEV WatchDog after my total 3500km. The State Of Health (SOH) is now 93.7%.Still a very good value at almost 130.000 km.

90,2% electrical in January !

90,2% electrical in January !

You can do allmost all on electricity with the PHEV when you have a usage profile with relatively short trips. My commuting distance is 25-30km one-way and i can recharge at work.I logged all my trips in the PHEV Watchdog app in january, in total 1269km from which 1144 on electricity. My EV score was 90.2%It could have been better with higher outside temperatures, because the engine starts more often when the heating is turned on. To prevent this I…

A day to the office – 2

A day to the office – 2

Today i visited more locations. My first appointment at 29km from my home. I extended pre-heating (connected to the charger) to 20 minutes because monday some ice was left on my windows after 10 minutes pre-heating. The disadvantage is that the battery looses some capacity because heating takes a little more power than the charger can deliver. I started with 33.8Ah in the battery and without pre-heating this is usually 36Ah. The boardcomputer showed a range of 40km with 5km…

A day to the office

A day to the office

It is 26 kilometer to my closest office location with about 80% highway. The (adaptive) cruisecontrol is set to 100km/h but the actual speed is usually lower due to the traffic intensity.Today I had the heating on, the airco off and the car was pre-heated connected to the charger. The boardcomputer showed a range of 40km of which 6 was left when I arrived after 26km. Back home about the same, but not pre-heated. 4km was left after a 27km…

Battery condition

Battery condition

The battery is an expensive part (i have read €7000) and there is not a lot of experience with the lifespan in the Outlander PHEV. It seems wise to check the condition before buying a used PHEV and luckily this it is very easy with the PHEVWatchDog Android app and an ODB2 bluetooth adapter.Buy a compatible adapter, because i could not get two cheap adapters properly connected with the WatchDog app. The VGATE icar Pro Bluetooth 3.0 was flawless. It…
